Gut-loving drinks brand Hip Pop is gaining increasing recognition for its business success after walking away winners at this year’s Great British Entrepreneur Awards (GBEA).

Hip Pop co-founders Emma Thackray and Kenny Goodman took home the Maker & Creator Entrepreneur Of The Year Award (North West) at the Gala Final in London on Monday 18th November.

Founded in 2012, the Great British Entrepreneur Awards acknowledge the hard work and inspiring stories of British entrepreneurs and their businesses. Dubbed “The Grammys of Entrepreneurship”, it is considered the ultimate gathering of entrepreneurs, innovators and change makers.

From startups to scale-ups, the businesses on this year’s shortlist alone have collectively generated nearly £2.9 billion in turnover, providing jobs for around 20,000 people.

Hip Pop co-founder, EmmaThackray, commented: “We are so excited to be a winner in the Great British Entrepreneur Award’s ‘Maker & Creator’ category. It was lovely to be in a room full of happy people celebrating everyone’s hard work and achievements. My favourite fact from GBEA founder Francesca James’ speech was that the finalists have a combined turnover of £2.9 billion – and Hip Pop is contributing towards this.

“None of this is possible without the team at Hip Pop – our people, our board and our investors. Entrepreneurialism is often painted as a solitary pursuit, but my experience has very much been that you need a solid bunch of people around you, backing you to the hilt. Kenny and I are very lucky – thank you Hip Poppers, we love you all!”

Co-founder Kenny Goodman added: “Thanks to our dedicated team in operations who create, make and distribute these gorgeous drinks; our sales and marketing teams who get the liquid on the lips and our finance team for holding everything together. Also, a huge thank you to Graham Beales who drives the business so we can swan around collecting awards, and of course, our mega customers and supporters.”

Initially launched by the duo in 2019, Hip Pop started as a passion project creating homemade fermented drinks, but quickly turned into a thriving business after exploring the booming functional drinks market.

Hip Pop’s gut-loving range of vegan-friendly and non-artificial kombucha and living sodas not only taste good but do good too – made using 100% natural ingredients and no artificial sweeteners or stevia, the brand offers a mass-market approach to tackling gut health, with no compromise on taste.

Over the last 9 months, the Manchester based brewer has welcomed Marks & Spencer, Ocado and Co-op to its growing list of retailers, in addition to securing commercial partnerships with Total Fitness and Zizzi, where its award-winning products are now available to customers.
