Meryl® Fabrics Imparts Knowledge at Forum with Focus on Circular Material Trends
Cheshire-based Meryl Fabrics®, a pioneer in hi-tech sustainable textiles and owners of the first in-house circular economy offering in the industry, has shared its expertise at a national forum focussed on new materials for circular systems.
Meryl Fabrics® was invited to speak at the Introduction to a Circular Lens conference in Edinburgh, where they joined other esteemed industry leaders to explore the circular economy, sustainable material research and today’s reality for businesses. The Meryl Fabrics team shared with attendees an insight into its journey of researching, developing and bringing to market its pioneering products.
The highly-anticipated event organised by Circular DS, analysed the outcomes of a critical research project funded by Creative Informatics, University of Edinburgh that aimed to understand the opportunities and barriers to new materials for circular systems. The event presented current innovative material research available, and delved into why material selection and circularity are critical for industries as we shift to a more sustainable future and learn more about the material trends in today’s society.
Peter Broom Director of Meryl Fabrics® commented: “We are hugely passionate at Meryl Fabrics® about revolutionising the textile manufacturing process, pioneering sustainable fabric items offering ‘infinite recyclability’ – the materials are provably sustainable because they last longer than fabrics used for mass textiles. Our manufacturing processes aim to minimise the impact of the textile industry on the environment, reducing the use of water and chemicals, and eliminating microfibre pollution, enabling businesses to move forward with a sustainable and full circular economy.
“We were proud to share an insight into the development of our sustainable textiles at this recent event, supporting businesses in making the transition to achieving full circularity.”
Meryl Fabrics® celebrated in 2022 a record year for awards, after chalking up an impressive 11 winner, highly commended and finalist trophies presented by international and UK bodies in recognition of their firm’s major achievements in achieving sustainability with textile innovation. And following on from this the pioneering firm has secured another 4 major finalist accolades in the first quarter of 2023.
