Alternative futures group receives prestigious princess royal training award
North West based charity Alternative Futures Group (AFG UK) has been recognised for demonstrating exceptional commitment to learning and development by the prestigious 2022 Princess Royal Training Awards. With skills shortages across the UK increasing and job vacancies doubling, creating engaging learning programmes to grow and retain new and existing talent has never been more crucial.
The leading Health and Social Care provider that supports around 120 people with a range of learning disabilities and mental health issues across the North West was acknowledged for accelerating their new starter competency. AFG needed to implement training to support its recruitment plans whilst addressing delays in training new starters. Through maximising virtual learning, the innovative training programme has been completed by 681 new starters in the last two years, attaining earlier competence levels through reduced waiting and completion times. Additional benefits have included cost savings of £27k+ per annum, improved audit compliance and enhanced efficiency.
Kirstie Donnelly MBE, Chief Executive of City & Guilds said: “The Princess Royal Training Awards demonstrate how training and development can open up opportunities and attract new talent to industries with significant skills gaps and labour shortages. Yet again, this year’s recipients have shown the range and depth of learning and development that is taking place in their own organisations to shape growth and positivity, from the power of skills development to address issues such as improving diversity and inclusion, through to programmes to address the ongoing impact of climate change. As we all work towards a net zero future, we hope to see even more training programmes recognised for their work in supporting this vitally important issue, amongst many other areas that create organisational and people development.”
Paul Taylor, Head of Learning and Organisational Development said: “We are delighted to receive this award and to be recognised for our ongoing commitment to the training needs of those who work for Alternative Futures Group. Our amazing people are the heart of what we do and we know investing in them will continue to make us a stronger organisation for those that we support.”
