Abbey College Manchester is celebrating success as students secure an exceptional set of A Level results.

The triumphant cohort of students, who following the pandemic sat public examinations for the first time, obtained their results from the leading independent college, boasting a remarkable 100% pass rate.

More than a third of students (38.1%) secured the highest grades of A*-A, up significantly from 2019 (20%) when students last sat invigilated exams, 63.9% attained A*-B, and 85.6% achieved A*-C.

One talented student who excelled, Simon, a boarding student at the college from Nigeria, has secured a much-coveted place at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN), to read Medicine after receiving AAA.

In another success story, Didsbury resident Will has achieved a phenomenal A*A*A*A*. He will now go on to study Chemistry at Oxford University.

Further student destinations include the University of Southampton to study Fine Art, the University of Liverpool to read Mechanical Engineering, Optometry at the University of Manchester, Industrial Economics at the University of Nottingham and Biomedical Science at King’s College London, University of London.

Commenting on this year’s results Principal Chris Randell said, “We are immensely proud of our students for their fantastic accomplishments. These results are a true reflection of their hard work and determination to succeed, alongside the efforts and support from our staff members, and parents and guardians – firmly consolidating our college motto of ‘Achieving Success Together’.
